The parish roots of St. Joseph can be traced back to the 1840s in Town Ten, a few miles west of Grafton, where the first Catholic church in the area, St. Francis Xavier, was established. St. Joseph Parish in Grafton was established on November 7, 1849 by Fr. Joseph Salzmann and Fr. Joseph Sailer. The first church named to honor St. Joseph was built in 1860, to be followed by a new church in 1897. The first mass in the present church was celebrated on Christmas Eve of 1968.

St. Joseph welcomes all and invites each person to full membership. In order to benefit from the many services offered by our parish, Catholics eighteen years and older are asked to maintain an official membership at St. Joseph. Active and supporting membership includes offering of one's time and talent and treasure to assist in promoting the mission and work of St. Joseph Parish. If you would like to establish your parish membership, please stop at the Parish Office during the week or after a weekend liturgy.

Now, over 160 years later, with nearly 1400 families in our parish, we offer many opportunities for worship and faith formation. We invite you to browse through our web site and see what we have to offer (and what you can offer us).
